Ana Pinho

Ana Pinho is an architect and has a PhD in Urban Planning. She developed research activity at the National Laboratory of Civil Engineering, between 2001 and 2012, in the areas of urban rehabilitation, territorial policies and heritage conservation.
Between 2004 and 2006 she was Invited Lecturer in the Architecture courses of University of Évora and Faculty of Architecture at the Technical University of Lisbon. She was also Invited Assistant Professor of the Integrated Master's Degree in Architecture, at the Catholic University of Portugal, between 2011 and 2015, and Coordinator of the Architectural Department between 2013 and 2015.
She is author and has collaborated in several scientific and technical publications, and co-editor of the Technical Guide for Housing Rehabilitation, published by the Portuguese National Housing Institute, now Institute for Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU). In 2009, she was Commissioner of the Strategic Charter of Lisbon. for the areas of Demography and Housing, and, between 2012 and 2016, she was a consultant for several municipalities in the areas of urban rehabilitation, housing, heritage conservation and territorial policies.
Between 2012 and 2015, she coordinated the «Terra Amada» volunteering initiative, focused on rehabilitation and improving the quality of life of populations in villages in the interior of Portugal. In February 2017, she was nominated member of the Board of Directors of Fundiestamo, with the mission of starting the implementation of the National Fund for the Rehabilitation of Buildings.
In July 2017, she was nominated Secretary of State for Housing of the Portuguese Government, a position she held until September 2020.
Since April 2021, she is Principal Researcher at the Centre for Research in Architecture, Urbanism and Design (CIAUD), based at the Lisbon School of Architecture of the University of Lisbon.
